The Bouvier des Flandres always attracts the attention – it is not really abundant, it is big-sized, and has a distinguished look. – It is more similar to the Large Hair Giant Griffon, but weights more and has a greater skeleton. The same as the Groenendael and the Tervueren, it is native from Belgium, where it was used to look after the cattle. Little by little there were attempts to obtain the breed type produced in Flandes. It's hardly surprising that after World War II, there were few specimens left in its origin place, which has resulted in a breed which not remarkable for its number of specimens.

The Bouvier des Flandres has to be strong and robust, but even so, it gives the impression of class and presence. It has double coat, which is, dense hair, smooth for the skin-deep coat, and rough for the protection coat, this is particularly abundant on the head, where it carries moustache, sideburns, and eyebrows that, according to the standard breed type, it gives the dog an unkempt aspect.

The color may vary from light beige to dark grey colors, sometimes black and red in equal proportions. Its height at withers is about 64 cm, and its weight, about 30 kilos.
