Beauceron Dog Breed

Beauceron Dog Breed

France

This breed, quite rare, is has surprisingly similarity to the Dobermann, which is not unusual because it is believed that the Beauceron contributed to the evolution of said German working dog, well-known, but of recent revolution.

This French breed descends from a very ancient dog but quite unrefined, and general it was not seen until the end of the XIX century. Since then it has improved greatly, so much that now it can be easily trained, even though it maintains its strong Shepard instinct, its temperament is less present.

The Beauceron has naturally or trimmed upright ears, and a long flat head. Its eyes, when referring to black coated ones, should be black, and if its coat is another color, its eyes suit it. It has a long tail, which it usually carries low and its coat is short and smooth.

It may be black, grey, red or very black and cinnamon colored. A white spot on its chest is acceptable. Its height at withers is 63-70 cm long for male dogs and 61-68 for female dogs.
