Ariège Pointer Dog Breed

Ariège Pointer Dog Breed
Braque d'Ariège

France

This smooth-haired pointer comes from the southern regions of France. A description may say that it looks like the German Pointer or the Pointer but it does not have a good figure. The nose may be flesh-colored, and it is not necessary that the eyes are dark. The ears are very close to the head and the tail is docked half the natural length. The short hair must be prevailing white with unusual orange or dark brown chestnut patches.

The height at withers must be 60 to 67 cm.

Borbon Pointer Dog Breed
Branque du Bourbonnais
Sometimes the Borbon Pointer variety is simply called short-tailed pointer because of its characteristic and distinguishing short tail. Another special detail of this breed is its color: white with dark brown chestnut small patches uniformly distributed all over the body.

The height at withers is usually about 55 cm.

Dupuy Pointer
Braque Dupuy
This dog is known by the name of Pierre Dupuy a Frenchman who was the first person who raised pointers of this variety at the beginning of this century. The Dupuy Pointer is very elegant and at a certain extent it has the distinguishing appearance of long-legged sight hounds. The general impression is strength combined with elegance. The head is longer and narrower than most other pointer varieties; the hanging ears are very small and flexible. The eyes are dark brown and golden brown. The tail is long and thin; it is taken down and slightly curved like a saber. The hair is smooth and very short and white with dark chestnut patches.

The height at withers is about 68 cm in males and 66 in females.
