Argentinean Bulldog BreedArgentina In the classic ancient times, big dogs like the mastiff type called molossus existed in countries of the Mediterranean Northern Coast. This breed was named after a tribe, the molossians that comes from the East that invaded the northeast of Greece about 500 BC, claiming these dogs as spoils of war. This type of dogs propagated subsequently towards the west, establishing on the Northeast of Spain and Portugal. The Argentinean bulldog descends from mollosus that were taken to South America by the Spanish colonizers during the 16th century. They are used as Shepherd dogs and guard dogs and for small game as well. Fighting dogs were also used in usual fights between rival colonies. The Argentinean bulldog is a medium-sized dog; it is robust, muscular, duly similar to the bulldog. The ears are frequently docked in a triangular shape. The neck is strong and the skin forms folds as in the bulldog; the chest is wide and the back is strong with the previous well-developed region. It is possible not to cut the tail, in which case, the animal raises when it gets excited. The hair is short, thick and hard. The only permissible color is entirely white; if there are patches of any other color, they are considered flaws that ruins the breed. |
