American Foxhound Dog Breed

American Foxhound Dog Breed

North America

The main difference between the American foxhound and its English ancestor is the size; although the English do not duly insist in the importance of the size and in the big variations that may exist; the case is that the English foxhound is not similar in size to its American counterpart. At first, both breeds were used with similar purposes, but while in Great Britain the English foxhound is never exhibited in common canine exhibitions, the American foxhound is today relatively popular in the exhibitions that are held in its country of origin.

The body is hard and well-formed and the legs have a good bone structure, the tail which is taken high is covered in its lower part by a long and abundant hair.
