Photo of a Dog Bite

When working online I came across a web site with pictures and photos of dog bites. There was this one photo of a dog bite that was absolutely horrific. The photos of the dog bites where not only of humans that had received dog bites but also of other pets that had been bitten by dogs. It is very sad when a dog bites someone or another animal because there is so many things that usually go into the equation and the actual incident is usually no that simple as just saying that a dog bit someone. However because the incidents are so dramatic they usually attract a lot of media attention and since the media by large prefer dramatic and attention grabbing stories they often misrepresent some of the facts or simply fail to take sufficient time to find out all of the facts behind the story. Also often the local authorities react in a quick and aggressive way in order to give their local constituencies the idea that they are not easy on crime which can in its own way cause more problems that it solves. Back to the photos of dog bites that I saw; what I am saying is that while it is vital that parents and caretakers be well informed about the risks and dangers of dogs and dog bites it is important that people don’t use these incidents for their own purposes or to further some other agenda. Both the people that are bit and the dogs that bite have rights and both of their rights should be respected. Educating not only people about the dangers of dogs but also educating the dog owners about how to prevent bites are two very important things that must never be neglected.
