Dog Bite Liability Insurance
Pretty much the only way you can avoid having to deal with dog bite liability insurance is to train your puppy not to bite. By teaching your puppy from an early age you might be able to never need to make that dreadful phone call to your insurance company asking them how much is it exactly that your dog bite liability insurance covers. One of the first things you must realize is that mouthing and nipping is a very common problem for little puppies. This is also a way a puppy lets you know if he wants something or if he has had enough of something. Here are some ideas on how to teach your little bitter to stop using his jaws on everyone: If your puppy has a tendency to bite at your hand, finger, ankle or any other part of your body – let him know right away that this hurts you. Say, “Ouch!” Not in an angry tone, just do it enough to surprise him a bit. Don’t every hit your puppy, and don’t shake your hand away from his mouth either. Once your pup lets go of you, change your tone of voice right away and let him know that you are proud of him for letting go of you, it’s preferable to use a soft and warm tone while encouraging him. Puppies learn quickly this way. And if you are faithful to constantly remind him of the boundaries once your little pup is a full grown adult dog hopefully that biting instinct will be sufficiently subdued and under control. What you don’t want is your dog learning to control his urge to bite once he is already fully grown. Otherwise you may find yourself in court having to use your dog bite liability insurance and believe me it is not a fun or pleasant experience in the slightest. |
