Training and education

The word education, in this case, expresses the animal's acknowledgments to different orders used to get from him positive answers or reactions under pre-determined situations. This definition could also be applied to the word training, which is the one most frequently used to refer to these repetitive activities. It is very important not only to train the dog, but to also educate the owner(s); especially when closely related to the animal's behavior.

Owners must be completely involved in their dog's education at all time. This will allow the owner to learn the lessons step by step along with his dog. But it would be convenient to be assisted by an advisor and a professional dog trainer to support the learning process. However, the best amateur trainer should obviously be the owner.

Independently from the form, the training process should be done inside the influence of the dogs territory: the house, its surroundings, the park or playing grounds, etc.

On the supposed situation of having to apply an obedience oriented training, the development of the dog should be guaranteed by the territorial surroundings of the dog. Here the animal should be more receptive than in any other place. This is so for two reasons; in the first place because the dog thinks of these places as part of his home and feels psychologically stronger; in consequence, he won't accept easily the dominance they are trying to impose to him in form of an order. In second place, because he is in his usual playing grounds which are also inside his territorial influence, and he associates this area with the exclusive action of playing and not with a place for obeying orders that would put an end to this action.

If you manage to obtain an adequate level of answer from the dog inside of this area, you can be sure that in other places, even if they have other factors that could take him to disobey, the response will also be positive.

In the same way, because of the nearness to the house the family can go to the sessions. If you achieve specific results with the less dominant members of the family in the areas so called tough, we may expect to obtain better results with the dog in his territory.
