Dog Bed Ramp
I
f you have chosen a canopy or higher dog bed for your puppy, you will also need to provide a dog bed ramp or steps. Besides house training your new puppy and learning how to train him, it is also very important to protect smaller puppies from the joint strain of jumping off and on the furniture or its bed. Small puppies need all the protection they can get as they are very fragile and their bones can break easily. If your new puppy hasn’t been house trained yet, you may want to reconsider allowing him or her from sleeping on your bed, as accidents can happen. You will also need to keep the puppy from getting up on the furniture on the house such as the couches. Not only is this an important factor to keep a puppy from falling and breaking its bones but it is also part of training a puppy because when it grows up trying to get him or her off the couches, your bed, or furniture etc will be a big problem and very difficult to deal with. Get you puppy an appropriate dog bed where he or she is able to peacefully rest. When we first got our puppy, Red, we were fixated on getting him a canopy dog bed; however our veterinarian told us we needed to make sure it was not too tall, as it would cause unnecessary stress on Red’s joints. After purchasing it though we noticed that it was a bit too tall for Red so that is when we decided to build a dog bed ramp and it was the perfect solution for our dog. Remember this before buying a dog bed as you might end up spending more than you had originally intended. |
