Wounds with firearm

Wounds with firearm

  1. Calm

the cat and immobilize him it if it is necessary.
  2. Treat first the clearest emergencies, for example a hemorrhage.
  3. Although it seems that his injuries are not serious, look immediately for veterinary assistance (The wounds inflicted by the shotguns of compressed air are deceitful. The hair gets in them and keep back them. Monitor if the cat tends to hide and is more spoilt. Take him immediately to the veterinarian).

Darts.

  1. Do not extract the dart
  2. Cut it to approximately five centimeters of the body of the cat
  3. Bandage firmly the body around the orifice of entry of the dart (It will reduce to the minimum the movement of the same one and it will prevent that it causes more internal injuries)
  4. Treat the shock if you estimate some symptom and look immediately for a veterinarian.

Porcupine spike

  1. When it is possible, search immediately for a veterinarian that extract the prongs anesthetizing to the feline.
  2. If only he has some small incrusted , use a few pincers of thin top to extract them, but throwing always in the same direction in which they are fixed.

Splinter

  1. Eliminate the dirt and impurities of the skin with moderate water and soap.
  2. Take the splinter with a few tweezers and extract it.
  3. Once extracted, wash again the zone with soapy warm water or oxygenated water diluted to 3 per cent.

Do not bending the wounded wounds until they bleed abundant, be in the chest, or the object remains incrusted.

Before any penetrating wound, put always in touch with your veterinarian. Although the tetanus is much less frequent in the cats than in the human, the bacterium that produces it develops in the deep wounds. Maybe the veterinarian considers suitably to put to the animal the antitetanic injection. The tetanus appears from five to fifteen days after receiving the wound. His symptoms are:

  • Hypersensitivity to the light and sound.
  • More stiff ears of the habitual thing.
  • General inflexibility that ends in paralysis.
  • Disability to get up.
