The Life of a cat
Domestic cats' average life expectancy are 12 to 15 years, although there are those who live until 20; few can make it to 25, and there are exceptional records of some that have lived up to 34 and even 43 years.
Domestic cats are more fortunate than their street cousins, who usually live half of these years mainly due to the accidents they suffer, they are more exposed to poisoning and epidemics, fights with dogs, scarce diets and human intervention.
A cat is for the entire life
Frequently, they say that domestic cats, the sterilized ones, live longer, but this is not due so much for medical reasons as to the fact that sterilized animals tend to maraud less and so are less exposed to accidents. In general, cats live more when happier and more comfortable they feel at their homes, where they give them care, playtime and the love they need.
The relative longevity of cats is a factor to have in mind when acquiring one as a pet, overall if he is a kitten, in a society like ours, in which cats last longer than many marriages.
When the initial emotions of the children for having a little kitten wears out, when they grow and start going outside to play, who assumes the responsibility? Who takes care of the cat when his old owner dies? What happens when the style of life or of profession of the owner makes him be out of the house for long and constant periods?.
There are many in wanted cats that end up being abandoned just like that, and only the most fortunate find new homes in houses or protection associations. This is no doubt a thing that must not be taken lightly.
