The Cat and Other Pets

In many houses there are more than one pet and, if the animals coexist pacifically, the things are easier and agreeable for everybody.

The one who take a pet as the first time is surprising about the good behalf with other animals, as the dogs. However, it is necessary to know that the cats are extraordinarily predator active and effective, and that his hunter's basic instincts are free before an acute shriek, a crackle or something small that moves with rapidity. In general, it is not prudent to leave the cats with small mouses, hamsters or goldfishes.

The first experiences
Since it happens with so many forms of behavior in other animals, the first experiences of a kitty have a fundamental role in his reactions before other animals in the adult age. The kitties pass for the first and more sensitive phase of socialization between 2 and 7 weeks old of age, though the process continues, with less intensity, during all his life; there is a second teenager phase between 6 and 12 months.

During these first essential weeks it's when the kitty establishes the most intense tights, for example with his mother and his brothers of litter. Also he can begin a relation with other kinds of animals. Said otherwise: if to this age the kitty raises with a dog or a rabbit, he will deduce that they are friends relying on, certainly, that there should be no explosion of evident hostility that scares him. This early conditioning it's so strongly that if the kitty raises with animals that he normally hunts – as mouses- he will not attack even when he is an adult cat.

As the kitty goes growing, it diminishes rapidly his aptitude to identify with other kind of animals and for it it turns out much more difficult to obtain a harmonious relation between the cat and other domestic animals. A surprising exception to this rule is a nursing cat, which maternal instinct seems to dominate on all the rest. A nursing cat can give of sucking to rabbits, squirrels and even little dogs.
