Superficial Injuries

Cat has Superficial Injuries

Abrasions, contusions and tears: The injuries in the skin are very usually.. When the skin gets rubbed against a hard and harsh surface, the disagreeable grazes or friction are produced. The contusions are more traumatic accidents in which the blood subcutaneous vessels turn out to be damaged. The tears or lacerations affects especially the paws, and the pads of the fingers, but this type of wounds can be produced also in any other part of the body. If your cat shows symptoms of having some of these superficial injuries, take a complete inspection in search of other potentially more serious internal hurts.

Wash the superficial wounds that are dirty of land, powder, vegetable plants or animal salivation with oxygenated water diluted to 3 per cent, or with the antiseptic that not irritates diluted with warm water. (Do not use hydrofoil cotton in branch; the fibers of this material can stick to the wound).

In case of the contusions, apply a cold compress a bag of frozen vegetables or a towel wetted in cold water) during several minutes over the zone (If it is a joint or a paw that is injured or swallowed, it is necessary to presume the possible existence of the deepest hurts.

Do not try to bandage these injuries. Usually it is not necessary, and in any case it is very difficult to obtain. While the cat does not recover, a dusty material does not use in his hygienic container.
Telephone the veterinarian, describe the injury and ask for advice.

Do not allowed that the cat lick too much his wounds. The feline salivation has a component of antiseptic soft action, so that feline does not exceed itself to licking it will clean them without damaging him.
