How to teach a cat to sit: Cats just like dogs have the ability to learn to sit when they are ordered to. And of course, teaching them to sit comes in handy when we want them to sit tight for a photo, or to impress our friends etc.

It's pretty simple to teach your cat to sit, as long as the cat understands that it will get rewarded after obeying. Use treats, or snacks (like chicken or fish) to get your cat to obey your command. Teach it to sit in the following way:

1. Stand in front of the cat and show it the snack you have in your hand.
2. Hold the snack over the cat's head, this way the cat will have to lift its head to see it.
3. The more the cat lifts its head, the more its behind will go sitting on the floor. As soon as the cat sits completely, praise the cat by saying "good kitty" and give it the snack. If the kitten jumps to get the snack from your hand, lower your hand a bit more and do not feed it until the kitten is sitting.
4. Practice this training during different times in the day and in different places until the cat sits every time you lift your hand. You will now be able to say the word "sit" right before the kitten sits.
5. Although this will take some work, rest assured that in the end you will just have to say the command "sit", without having to give the kitten a treat, and without having to lift your hand either.

Standing on two feet: Cats can also learn how to stand on two feet like dogs. Follow these simple steps to train your cat to stand:

1. Get a treat or snack that your cat particularly likes. (This could be fish, chicken etc).
2. Hold the snack over the cats nose until the cat sits; the same way you would to train it to sit.
3. Put your hand up a little so that the cat little by little goes standing so that it lifts its front legs. Once the cat has achieved this, praise it by saying "good" etc. and then treat the cat.
4. Continue to train your cat every morning until the cat lifts itself more each time. If the cat jumps, don't say anything to it, just start again from step number two.
