Singapore Cat Breed
Origin
These cats live in Singapore where they are called drainage since they don't have a home and live in the drainage system. These places are highly dangerous because when too much water goes down the drainage, they can drown. Exist very few pure breeds in Singapore; the short-haired like the Siamese are not appreciated by the local people because they look like drainage cats. However, there is a Singapore Feline Society since 1970; which have organized short-haired exhibitions and obtained good results.
In 1975 they became popular when five cats were exported to California with the basic characteristics of the Singapore Breed. Originally there were some difficulties trying to reproduce these cats, but in little time they became popular as pets and in competitions.
This breed is very joyful, agreeable and affectionate with their family; which makes them a good companion at home.
