Review of Problematic Zones for Cats
If we beautify our cat only once a week, it is the ideal moment to do a complete routine of maintenance that includes the ears, the eyes, the mouth and the hoofs. If we do it daily, it is not necessary to continue every time the whole procedure; it is of common sense. Let's remember that the cats of more age need more polishing, because they become less flexible and cannot reach certain parts of his body by themselves.
- Examine the ears of the cat. The discolored wax, an inflammation or some smell can be signs of infection; the normal earwax has to be scanty and of honey color and not smell badly. Use a cleaner solution in the auditory conduit and remove the excess of wax with a cotton swab.
- See if there is secretion in the eyes, swelling or they are turned red and consult the veterinarian if you believe that there is something abnormal. Wash the eyelids with cotton in branch wetted in a special clean eyes for cats or in a salt solution
- Open their mouth to the cat to see if he has plaque in the teeth or the gums inflamed. See also if there are ulceration or wounds in the tongue or the veil of the palate; later, brush the teeth to him. If the cat have not accustomed to this since he was a kitty and he resists violently, so much the cat as us will be happier programming an annual session with the veterinarian to clean and to remove the deposit of the teeth of the cat. It is not necessary to anesthetize to the animal for this.
- See if accumulates dirt in the hoofs. Normally, the same cat takes out it from him during his habitual brushing, but this can be more difficult in humid time or if the cat is old and is a few flexible. If the legs have a crust of dirt, to clean them it is possible to use cotton in branch wetted.
