Persian Cat Breed

This breed receives its name from its place of origin, Persia. In Persia one could frequently observe long-haired cats accompanying travelers in caravans.

The first specimen of this type of cat that was exported to the western hemisphere arrived in Italy in the 1700s and a century later they were taken to France and England.

It was in England where bred with Angora Turk cats that the breed originated. This breeding gave place to a silkier hair and a multiple of colors.

Nowadays, the Persian breed, thanks to its beautiful appearance and its floating coat, it is one of the preferred breed of cats for cat lovers all over the world.

Persian cats have a wide head, jutted out cheeks, little ears, strong jaws and small nose. Its hair coat is dense, abundant and silky. Persian cats are classified by colors into four different categories: solids, gold and silver, smoke, shaded, tiger like, two colored and Himalayan.
