Persian Cat

The Persian Cat is, almost without exception, the most popular cat breed in the world. In the United States has registered three Persian cats for every cat of pedigree of any another breed. It is possible that they have the major record as champions, having taken part in exhibitions during more than 100 years.

All the domestic native cats of Europe are of short hair and the origins are, probably, in the mountains of the Asia Minor. About 1620, as much the Persian cats as the Ankara, admired by his long and silky hair (in opposite that it believed were the result of a genetic spontaneous mutation and not of the climate), they were imported in France and Italy, for the members of the nobility. .Distinctions were not done between both types until, in 1889, a British publication did it. The Persian become immediately an enthusiast following in Great Britain, where initially there were known as French cats. Introducing about this time in the United States, the Persian were becoming rapidly in the most popular breed than the local of long hair, the Maine.Raccoon Cat Though today they are classified like Persian in the United States, his official name in Great Britain is "Longhair" (of long hair). However, the breeders of the whole world are referring usually to them as Persian cats.

Besides the name of the breed, there are differences in the colors and in the types recognized all over the world like Persian or longhairs. In Great Britain, each one of the colors are considered to be a separate breed; however, in the United States, the national associations of pedigree recognize almost 50 varieties of Persian. For example, the nice dotted "chinchilla", in Great Britain is a separate breed, but in the United States it is considered to be a variant of the Persian shading. The chocolate and the lila monocolors are two exceptions, which qualify in the United States as Himalayan or Kashmir and not as Persian, whereas in Great Britain they are known as chocolate and lilac of long hair. In the past time, the white Persian were a majority, but at present the most popular color is the black.

A luxury cat
Few cats have an aspect as impressive as an adult young Persian healthy and well brushing. The key for his good appearance is the "toilette" that is crucial to support the luxurious silky hair that is the most important feature distinctive of the breed. The hair, which is long, floating, thick and thin, needs the intense daily brushed in order that they don't become in a tangle of hair. The shed is realized throughout the whole year and there are many owners that prefer their Persian have the cut hair if they are not going to expose them. The tail is relatively short but very abundant.

Under his hair, the Persian are big, solid and proportionate cats, with a massive head in proportion with the body, shortly and compact. The eyes, very spread, are big, round, showy and prominent in the snub face of the Persian. Apart from the white Persian are having the eyes of different color or blue –Most of the Persian monocolors have the eyes of intense color copper or orange. The Persian silveriness like the chinchilla silver are in the habit of having green eyes.

With his nice and calm character. The Persian cat ideal house cats. They like the persons and seem to enjoy them. This sociableness spreads to other cats; the Persian accepts calmly the new comers to the house. Not even carousers are noisy, and live happy inside house, though also they are good hunters when they are left to go out. Since it is typical in the big cats of long hair, the Persian are late in reaching the maturity and it is not necessary to breed them before 2 years old.
