Persian Cat Breed

Origin
The Persian cat has been known for three centuries. It is believed that they descend from wildcats originally from Asia. From westward Iran, before Persia, there came the name Persia.

Characteristics
Persians have long flowing coats, thick and shinny. Large or medium in size, cobby type, broad and deep through the chest.

Short, thick and strong legs. Forelegs straight. The paws are large, round and have large feather tufted between the toes and short tail.

The head is round and massive with great breadth of skull, well set on a short, thick neck. Large, round eyes with a short, snub nose with break centered between the eyes. Small rounded tipped ears and tilted forward.

Long-haired cats are more aristocratic and have more thickness in their hair. These cats do not have a great descent, since the females don't have constant heat, especially from January until March.

They reach their sexual maturity approximately between eleven and twelve months of age. It's recommended not to pair the females until they are a year and a half, so they can reach their maximum growth and don't present any metabolic disorders in the gestation.

Colors: white, black, blue, red, cream, shaded silver. Shell cameo, smoked and shaded: black smoke and blue smoke. Classic tabby, mackarel tabby, silver patched tabby, silver, red, brown, blue, cream, cameo. Tortoiseshell, blue-cream. Calico, bi-color.

They are passive cats that don't like to chase mice; they are not very affectionate but like following their owner everywhere and watching them from a distance.
