xternal parasites like the fleas, ticks, mites and louses, besides causing irritation, transmit an ample scale of diseases. The internal parasites debilitate the cats increasing the risk that they develop more serious clinical injuries. Prevention the appearance of parasites considering to your cat as an ambulant restaurant and following exactly the instructions of his veterinarian. External parasites: If your cat has a black and brilliant powder in the skin or has irritations, inflammation or dandruff, explore him in search of fleas. Internal parasites: If your cat have watery or bloody diarrhea, take a sample of excrement to the veterinarian in your next visit; it will serve to realize tests that determine what internal parasites, if they are, are responsible of the problem.

Ascárides (Ascaris lumbricoides): Symptoms of infestation:

  • Tarnished Skin.
  • Little increase of weight, or inclusive loss.
  • Vomits or diarrhea, sometimes with worms of white rosy color.

Prevention:

  • Disparasite periodically to the puppies of two weeks of age.
  • Do it also with the pregnant cats.
  • Do it with the cats that have just gone out of a prolonged treatment based on corticoesteroides.
  • Besides that, if you allow to your feline to go out of house disparasite him at least two times a year with products recommended by his veterinarian.

Tape-worm or solitary: Symptoms of the infestation.

  • Distended abdomen.
  • Sacks of eggs of the size of a grain of rice in the skin around the anus.

 Prevention:

  • Prevent or treat the infestation of fleas of your cat.
  • Prevent him of eating corpses and wreckage of animals.
  • Disparasite to the cat with a product approved by his veterinarian.

Coccidia, Giardia, Babesia and Toxoplasma .are other internal parasites for which the prevention does not exist. The toxoplasmosis, besides, is a potential threat for the health of humans, especially for pregnant women. If the feline goes out from the house or he eats raw meat, the pregnant woman must avoid any contact with his shedding during gestation.
