Outdoor Cat Shelter
One day my mom was working on the outdoor cat shelter for her cat. My mom's yard is completely enclosed by a fence, however there is one gate that opens directly into the neighbors yard. She was cleaning and disinfecting the outdoor cat shelter for "Putts" something she did on a regular basis. Keeping your cat shelter clean is vital to your feline's health and well being. Not only are there many illnesses that your cat could catch but when you leave your cat's house, shelter or enclosure dirty the risk of infection to humans also becomes a concern.
Anyhow Putts was eating from his bowl and enjoying the afternoon sun when all of a sudden the gate to our neighbors house swings open and my mom's neighbor's terrier comes running at full speed for Putts. Before my mom c
ould do anything that vicious terrier had her cat by the throat. My mom swung into immediate action and began fearlessly beating on that dog like a mad woman. However that dog just did not want to let go. Finally my mom applied a tourniquet type action to the dog's neck with a stick through the collar (something someone had once told her could be done in the event that a dog didn't want to release its bite on something). There my mom is turning that stick and after a while dog let go. Well as you can imagine poor Putts immediately high tailed it up to the roof of our house. There was nothing my mom could do to get him to come back down for over a week he was so traumatized. So she would just put his food and water out in the yard. After that my mom had that gate permanently sealed to avoid the problem from recurring and had a chicken wire fence put up around Putts cat shelter to give him extra protection.
