Ocicat Cat Breed
This breed is the result of the breeding among the Abyssinian, Siamese and American Short-Hair cat done in 1964. This breeding was registered at the CFA in 1966 and temporarily recognized in 1986. The crossing produced a first specimen named "Tonga" which was very alike to wild cats that at a time caused great admiration.
These animals present a wedge-shaped head, straight snout, wide and squared, big amber colored eyes and pointed triangle-shaped ears. Its hair is short, dense, soft and shiny, and it has a creamy colored sprayed with light or dark brown spots and marks. One may also find some fur coats with golden reflections Other features are well-built bodies, long legs and a long pointed tail. They can weigh as much as 6 or 7 kilograms. Although the Ocicat projects a wild look it is good-tempered and very friendly cat to people.
