Cat Nose Injuries

If there is festering by the nose, observe what kind it is and if it goes out for one of the nostrils or for the two. If it is a hemorrhage, have notice that it is usually the result of a serious and potentially mortal concussion.

Monitor Possible Shock.

• Pale or whitish gums
• Agitated breathing
• Weak and accelerated pulse
• Coldness in the extremities
• General weakness.

Does the blood go out from one of the nostrils or from both? YES
Probable concussion. Go to the veterinarian    NOW

Does the cat sneeze, breathe heavily, and maybe takes the paws to the face?

Look for some strange body.

Does a greenish or yellowish nasal secretion come out from one or both nostrils?       YES
Go to the veterinarian    SOON

Is there nasal festering accompanied of lethargy?  YES
Go to the veterinarian the same day.

Is there swelling and secretion of any type?  YES
Go to the veterinarian within 24 hours.

Does he sneeze and have nasal distillation?   YES
Domestic treatment. Phone the veterinarian for advice.

Nasal Hemorrhage

• Maintain the cat calm and confined in a room
• Look immediately for symptoms of shock.
• Apply a cold compress (for example, a cloth steeped in cold water) in the top part of the nose, in the area placed between the eyes and the nostrils.
• Cover the bleeding nostril with an absorbent cloth or a hygienic compress until the hemorrhage stops.
• Although the hemorrhage stops, go to the veterinarian immediately.
• Do not keep the mouth of the cat closed.
• Do not incline the head backward to reduce the hemorrhage. It might be asphyxiated by his own blood.
• Do not introduce gauze in the nostril you to stop up it. The animal might sneeze blood furthermore.

Strange bodies.

1. If you see some strange body lodged in to nose, extract it carefully with some tweezers.
2. If you do not see it, or if you cannot extract it, take the cat to the veterinarian the same day. ( The most probable thing is that it is a filament of herb or some type of similar plant).
