Leaving the Cat Inside

Everybody accepts that, when a cat has to stay home, he shouldn't experiment at all going outside. If he doesn't know anything else, it will adapt without problems to the homely life, but this won't prevent the cat from escaping at the first opportunity.

But to confine an adult cat who has lived freely before is not reasonable, safe maybe in cases that of very old cats that don't have strength nor interest for the exterior world.

The problem of changing the cats way of life can be accepted due to the old age of the cat or in circumstances in which a person has to move from a house or an apartment to go to live to a place in which animals or cats are not well seen.

In this type of situations, the best consideration is to find a new home in which the cat can have the same kind of life he used to have and to acquire a kitten or even better two, and get them used since the beginning to stay at home. Anyway, you have to have in mind that some landlords and renting agencies have limitations on having pets or the number of then in a house.

We must also say that wandering and hunting are behaviors firmly consolidated by nature on felines, and life for them at a house is not natural for it, it is recommended to offer domestic cats the alternative stimulus to give variety to their lives. If not, animals will get bored and stressed, which can bring aggressive attitudes, excessive feeding or to stop using the hygienic tray for their needs.

When we confine a cat at home we are taking from him its independence, so we must try to give them a more enjoyable life.

Only at home
It's very unlikely that the life of a cat that is always alone at home will be satisfactory.

There are experts in this matter that say that cats are extremely childish animals, that is. They need to be accompanied by their equals every day. For it, many people are surprised when they verify that even though cats sleeps three fourths of a day, the rest of the time they need company and action.

The problem for leaving a cat alone all day can be solved by buying two cats, or even a friendly dog. It is also a good idea to ask a friend or a neighbor, maybe a teenager, to go by the house once in a while to see how all is with the cat and to play and pet him.

To leave on the radio with music at a low volume can also compensate some of the lonely sensation.
