Japanese Bobtail Cat Breed

Several chronicles and paintings indicate us that the bobtail cat lived in Japan since several centuries ago. Domestic cats migrated from China to Korea 1,000 years ago and are considered to be the ancestors of the Japanese Bobtail cat.

After the Second World War, the Japanese Bobtail cat was brought to the United States and other countries as well. But it was only until 1971 that the CFA accepted the breed temporarily.

Bobtails are strong and healthy cats that usually deliver 3 or 4 off-springs at a time. These off-springs are bigger than normal size kittens, and they exhibit a well-built body that is thin, but sturdy. They also show a tail that folds on to their back, but what is most characteristic is that these animals have an almost perfect triangle-shaped head, round snout, broad ears and oval eyes that match the color of their coat. A smooth and medium length hair is another of their main characteristics. Colors may vary but accepted as well, unless they look like the Abyssinian or Siamese cat.
