| Internal ParasitesRou nd: Round parasites that are most important in the cat are the acaroids (toxascaris leonine and toxocara cat 1). These can be acquired by direct ingestion or by intermediary guests, like rodents, for example. The toxocara is also transmitted to the whelp through the mother's breast feeding.Symptoms: Animals with moderate infections do not show any symptoms, but those with severe infections can show diarrheas and/or vomit, bulky abdomen, bad hair, retarded growth and pallid mucous. Prevention: By means of the preventive worming of the whelps at the sixth and eighth week of age, and for adult cats, in a periodical way, during all its life. One must clean the facility and equipment everyday and disinfect it in a periodically. Treatment: By using specific anti-parasites, preparation based on "Praziquantel" or "Piperazina", for example, in recommended doses as established on the label of the commercial products. |
