Health examination

When you choose a kitten, don't let only your heart be the judge, examine the state of health of the animal.

Behavior: healthy kittens, make noises, play and do mischievous things to their brothers. Sometimes, they sleep for a short time often, immediately after playing. Before strange people, their behavior is by general, reserved, but short time after curiosity wins. The opposite of a sick kitten, that sits indifferent in a corner and has an apathetic look.

Sexual differentiation: little after being born is when the gender of the kitten is more identifiable, because hair doesn't yet cover the sexual organs. But even after, you can determine gender easily. On the male, the difference between the anal and sexual orifice is bigger than that of the female.

The sexual orifice on the male is rounded; on the female cat is extended. The animal zone must be clean. The presence of excrement incrustations may be a symptom of diarrhea.

The most popular breeds: The following breeds of cat are the ones that occupy the first place on the scale of popularity of the cat owners.

Distribution of breeds: It wasn't until the end of the last century that selective breeding from race cats started.

In the denominated type of races, the ideal aspect that a race must have and what characteristics they should possess, where established. Today, the race cats are divided in 4 great groups:

• Persian and exotic cats
• Semi-large hair cats
• Short hair cats
• Short hair Siamese and oriental cats

Hair drawings and colors: Most diversity of colors and drawings are found on all the types of cats. I would like to classify them by seven big groups.

Also, within each race there are chromatic varieties. Between Persian cats for example, more than 200 colors and different drawings are distinguished at present.

One colored cat: there are black, white ,blue, brown, chocolate, lavender, red and cream

Two colored cat: animals with a diverse proportion of white hair. There are also completely white with some parts of colors (van Turk) and darks with white markings (on the head, the chest or the legs). Between the domestic and race cats, tortoise shell and blue-cream colors are abundant.

The first are always female, because the red colors is hereditary on the function of gender. In the blue-cream cats, the cream and blue colors must be well mixed and not in forms of shade stains on the hair.

Three colored cats: they are always females, the colorations of tortoise shell or blue-cream are combined with white shades stains the combination of the colors of tiger like hair and tortoise shell hair is denominated tortie-tabby.

Cats with dots: it has a light color hair with obscure parts on the head, tail and legs (Siamese, Balinese cats); in the case of the Persian, this chromatic variety is denominated color-point.

Cats with dots and white shade stains: Siamese coloration with white shade stains only on the legs (Burmese), Siamese coloration with an irregular distribution of white shades stains (rag-doll).

Pointed tipped cats: the pointed tips of the cats hair are colored. The most known have black pointed tips hair (chinchilla, silver shade and choke) between the noble cats there are also pointed tip with colors blue, red and tortoise shell.

Striped cats (tabbies) : the hair has striped drawings, tiger like, in water forms or speckled, in general, of gray or dark gray. You find them on mountain cats, domestic and noble cats.
