Havana Brown Cat Breed
Origin
Their name has nothing to do with Havana Cuba, but with the color of a fine cigar.
Havana Brown cat breed originated as the result of breeding a black domestic cat carrying the brown recessive gene and a seal or chocolate Siamese cat. The kitten born in 1952 had an appropriate color and eventually established the Havana Brown as well as the oriental line of short-haired.
Achieved in Great Britain through crossings between chocolate Siamese, initially a Siamese whose genetic factors ruled the dilution of tones in the head and body, suffered an "interference" and would cease to their influence. Afterwards there have been different criterions even though it's always penalized non-uniformed specimens and amber eyes.
Characteristics
Medium length hair, mahogany and soft to touch. The head is slightly wider than long. Their eyes are green in shape and oval in shape. The whiskers are brown. Big ears, rounded and with little external and internal hair.
Long or medium sized body, muscular, the paws are oval shape and the tail is proportional to the body. The nose and cushions under their paws should be of a pale pink color.
This is a highly intelligent breed of cat, mischievous, respectful and very healthy. They have a soft meow and need little time to clean up.
Even though resistant and sturdy, they can come down with any normal disease of this specimen being more propane to colds and other pulmonary or respiratory anomalies.
