Feline language

It is clear that cats do not "talk" like us, but its vocabulary is very rich. Its always amazing to hear all the varieties of ways with which they express themselves. One has to learn how to interpret these ways to "understand" the cat and to know what it is up to.

Oral language: Everybody knows about cats snoring. It is the noise made when it feels satisfied and fulfilled, in general, it is a sensation of well being. Also, the meowing is so natural in a cat as fish in the water. It sounds in every known tone and grades. For example, when a kitten feels abandoned or an adult cat is unsatisfied. Sometimes the most delicate are the ones who whine the most while the most impressive cat has a low voice. A way of gossiping that cats have at hand for every occasion is purring. Cat lovers use it to attract cats in heat and vice-versa. When the prey is out of reach, they give shrieks and snap their teeth. When seeing through a window they discover a bird, its hunting anxieties frustrated, they start humbling. If they blow, expectorate or grunt is that they want to keep their enemies far away. If by the contrary, they emit a prolonged decreasing howling, the denominated feline chant, they manifest a threat before a fight. It is written to interpret it as a "love song". When the adversary is stronger and they want to escape, they shriek with the sharpest howling.

Cats go their on way: The English writer Rudyard Kipling gave a literary form to the ways of these animals in the story "The cat who went alone by its own", but at one point he was wrong. In brief, when he wrote "so much after, as so much in between, when the moon comes out and in comes the night, the cat goes out to walk alone, and for him every place is like any other". This feline can differ very well one place from another, and in spite of its own individualism, it tries to relate itself in his own discreet way.

Home by self determination: This concept coined by behavior researchers refers to the place in which the cat lives. It is about the places in which men live, not only in the case of domestic cats, but also of the ones that have free access to the outside and the ones found on farms or in barns. In each of these places they have chosen safe lodgings, that they "own" with a special predilection. To share this home with other inhabitants, with his "people" or other cats, does not matter to them, as long as there is enough space to avoid everyone and depending on its humor.

As "personal property" the cat considers also the immediate surroundings, yards, court yards surrounding a block, grounds and paths around the farm even if it is divided by walls.

The neighbors yard: this causes frequent fights. It is true that there are laws by which the owner of a yard cannot make its neighbor keep his cat locked in thehouse, only because they crossover every once in a while. It hunts birds, catches fish in the pond or that it soils the game box, but it is also true that there are other laws that say the opposite. I advice to think about all these things and of the consequences of keeping a cat at home.
