The eye is out of its cavity

  1. Do not try to introduce it again
  2. Cover it with a clean and humid fabric, or with a sponge steeped with salty water or with a over saturated solution of sugar. Hold it to the head with a wide bandage .
  3. Keep the cat as calm as you can and go to the veterinarian immediately. (Every minute is precious in order to save the eye) .

Monitor Possible Shock

  • Pale or whitish gums
  • Agitated breathing
  • Weak and accelerated pulse
  • Coldness in the extremities
  • General weakness

The cat blinks, half-closes the eyelid and avoids the light:

  1. Lift up the top eyelid with the thumb. Look for strange bodies in the eye.
  2. With the thumb of another hand, re-bring the low eyelid and look for remains or impurity.
  3. If there is a strange body that is not fixed, remove it washing the eye with warm water.
  4. Another method consists of using a cotton ball moistened with water to make it come out.
  5. If you cannot extract the object, cover the eye with a bandage to prevent  that more hurts are produced and go immediately to the veterinarian
  6. If the foreign body is fixed, do not try to extract it. Bending the eye or put to the cat an Elizabethan collar and take him immediately to the veterinarian.

The eye is reddened, has the half-open eyelid and tearing but there is no strange body.

  2. Prevent that the cat damage himself putting Elizabethan collar or bandaging to him its nails of the rudimentary "thumbs" of the front legs
  3. Go to the veterinarian the same day.
