Exotic Shorthair Cat Breed
Origin
Exotic Shorthairs are wonderful shorthaired versions of the Persian. Some lines were developed using Persians, Domestic European or American Curl and the Burmese. This breed was recognized in the year 1967 in America and in 1971 in Europe.
Characteristics
Their fur is longer than the short-haired cats. The hair is short, dense, soft and shinny. The accepted colors are: white, black, red, cream, silver, dark silver, shell cameo, dark cameo, black smoke, blue smoke and smoked cameo. The hair must not stick to the body.
The body is stocky with deep chest. Massive shoulders and hips. They are medium to big sized cats with short extremities. Their legs are particularly strong and muscular. The tail is short and well populated of low insertion.
The head is round and muscular with a very broad cranium. The nose is snub and wide. Wide and muscular maxillary. Small ears inserted inside the circle of the face, rounded and inclined forward. The eyes are round and shinny with a little distance between them. Should be of blue color in the variety of white specimens and copper in black specimens, always matching the furs color.
This breed does not need very much space, but it does need grooming and brushing with regularity.
They have a sweet and tender expression; they are calm and little demanding, loving and enjoy good health in general.
