Egyptian Mau Cat Breed
Origin
The first images of this breed appeared in papyrus and walls of the Egyptian temples that date back from the year 1400 BC These cats originally lived in communities along the Nile River where they were considered gods. The god of sun, Ra, was painted as an Egyptian Mau for example.
For all of the exposed before, they are considered to be an ancient breed, but they are also considered a modern breed because in 1937 they were rediscovered and raised. The Egyptian Mau has the distinction of being the only natural spotted breed of domestic cat. Mau means cat in Egypt.
Characteristics
The hair is silky and fine in texture with a lustrous sheen. The Egyptian Mau cat comes in three colors that can be Silver, Bronze, and smoke. In the forehead they have lines that form an M and a frown between the eyes with a spotted body, not lines that are darker. They tail has darker rings around it and the tip is black.
The head is slightly rounded with slight rise from the bridge of the nose to the forehead. Large ears, moderately pointed, broad at base and can present thin hair in the ear.
Medium sized, strong and well-developed muscular strength. Paws slightly oval, medium sized tail thick at base, with slight taper. Amicable and calm that enjoys the companionship of their family.
