Egyptian / Mau Cat Breed

The breed of cats was clearly identified by the ancient Egyptians through their art, thus why many believe that their predecessors were some spotted sub-species from the African wild cat.

The Mau cat arrived to America in 1956 along with the exiled Russian princess Nathalie, and its recognition for participating in championships was given in 1977.

The Egyptian is a cat with a great sense of loyalty towards the family. It is very intelligent, it has a moderate activity and it is a good hunter. This cat has a slightly convex head, a slightly pointed snout, ears big and broad at the base and big eyes of colors green, yellow or hazel. It has a well-built body, long legs, a long pointed tail and it is medium sized.

These cats have a fine fur, with dense and shiny hair of medium length. Some colors could be found are: silver, bronze, smoke and blank always with flutes.
