Colorpoint Shorthair Cat Breed
Origin
Also known as tabby points, lynx point, depending on what country you are in. Distinguished new breed from the Siamese in Great Britain in 1966, was recognized as point tabby Siamese, however in United States they separated this breed by calling it Colorpoint Shorthair.
Characteristics
A long tapering wedged head, medium in size. The total wedge starts at the nose and flares out in straight lines to the tips of the ears forming a triangle.
The skull is flat. There should be bulge over eyes and no dip in nose. Long and slender neck and a long and straight nose with a continuation of the forehead with no break. Fine, wedge shaped snout. Large, pointed ears, wide at base.
Almond shaped eyes, medium size slanted towards the nose, uncrossed and generally light colored.
The Colorpoint Shorthair is a medium sized, svelte, but muscular.
Tight abdomen, wide hips but never wider than shoulders. Long and slim legs. Hind legs higher than front, small and oval paws.
The tail is long and thin, tapering to a fine point. They have different colors, but the favorites are four: seal point, blue seal, chocolate point and lilac point.
Their hair is short, fine textured and glossy. Points: mask, ears, feet, legs, and tail.
The other colors are red point, cream point, blue lynx point, chocolate lynx point, lilac lynx point, red lynx point, seal-tortie lynx point, blue-cream lynx point, lilac-cream lynx point.
A continuous brushing is recommended so they don't swallow any hair while licking themselves. It is one of the most intelligent and intriguing breeds of cats.
