Chartreux Cat This breed of cats was bred in French monasteries near Paris, evidenced in sixteenth century documents that talk about these animals. The name of Chartreux comes from the woolen aspect of its fur that resembled that of the sheep in the eighteenth century called Chartreux . It has a round head, triangular snout, filled cheeks, wide neck and gold, copper, yellow or amber eyes. Chartreux possesses a powerful body with wide back and chest. Brawny legs and long and full-bodied tail that curbs over its back is another feature of this family of cats. Its hair is short, dense, velvety and shiny. Gray tones are most appreciated colors in Chartreux cats, but bright gray types are preferred. |
