Cats Curiosity
The proverb about curiosity of cats is a verified fact and proves its great intelligence. The curiosity confirms, by one side, that he has good memory and, by the other, that they are capable of interpreting information.
It is based on the survival instinct and the need of knowing everything about his surroundings, specially when it might mean a threat or an opportunity for hunting.
Inquisitive nature
Felines don't change territory voluntarily, although sometimes they must do it to attack the hierarchic roles of the pack.
Cats are particularly cautious with their territory; any novelty, from a small bunch of sand or an abandoned tool or something bigger, as a fallen tree, will be thoroughly investigated and marked with his odor.
Open doors of sheds or cars attract enormously the attention of cats; so then, if you loose sight of your cat for a long period, this type of places will be where he is.
"Curiosity killed the cat", prays the saying, and sometimes it's so exaggerated that it puts them in rally delicate situations of danger.
They start when young, almost at the time that they can stand on their feet at two or three weeks of age, the kittens begin to explore its nearer surroundings, for which the mothers must be continuously alert for them not to get into trouble and to bring them back home.
The curiosity can be on occasions a non stoppable impulse that overcomes any prudence.
This is so especially on the younger members, because with maturity, cats compile experiences that teach them to distinguish between things that can be done or not.
Anyways, curiosity can take over even many of the wisest cats. To minimize the risks at home, the best is to shut well all the water cubes, pipelines and sewers put away in secure places any toxic products and see that there is no way from them to drain outwards.
You also have to be careful with some plants inside the house that could be poisonous for them, and teach everyone at home to get used to closing the doors of closets and wardrobes.
If there is a chimney and it's not in use for a while, you have to shut it, overall if you are bringing kittens or new cats home.
When the cat is almost eight years of age, he begins not to take notice of new things and is more interested on being secure, warm, and comfortable and to feed on a regular basis.
