Cats Calm Lives

Cats like to live in calm and loud noises bothers them, reason why clapping and saying "no" in a high voice constitutes an effective method for training them.

Cats that share their home with dogs tend to avoid them when they bark loud, not because they are afraid of them, but simply because they hate noises. For this same reason, they tend to stay apart from scandalous children.

So, the ideal home of a cat is that in which he shares his life with people of soft voice tones that listen to the radio or see television in a low volume. In fact, almost every cat likes to hear soft music when being alone, and maybe due to their greater sensibility to high frequencies, they perceive richer notes than we do.

Old cats hearing
The deafness is a common illness of cats, overall when they reach certain age. It is not true that all white cats are deaf, as many people think, but it does have a relation with the white color, overall with the cats with blue eyes, because it has been observed that in cats that have unmatched eyes (of different colors), the deaf ear is usually on the side of the blue eye.

Generally, the deafness can affect one or both ears and it is incurable, but, in spite of the importance that hearing is for cats, when it is a birth problem, it seems not to be a great disadvantage, due that they develop more their other senses to compensate this deficiency.

Anyway, deafness affects female's capacity to look over their kittens, due that they are incapable of perceiving the sharp cries for when they are hungry or are in danger.

This is one of the reasons, though not the only one, for which is not advisable for deaf female cats to have kittens.

There have been cases of cats that are born deaf that acquire the capacity of hearing at a mature age and that present, as is natural, serious difficulties of adaptation to the new world of sounds.

The deafness and the old age appear gradually and it usually is associated with other symptoms of oldness.

When a cat moves its head without stopping or scratches its ears, the most probable is that he is suffering an infection to the ear, although it is also an indication for its expression of perplexity when beginning to loose the audition. Even though there is no physical remedy, we can give him a better quality of life by trying not to frighten him when getting near.

The ears have another function other than hearing; it performs an essential role as a way of expression.

In unison with other organs, they express emotions as fear, nerves, happiness, annoyance, etc.
