Cat Vomiting
The more current symptoms of nausea or of imminent vomiting are the slavering, licking the lips and the gestures of swallowing many times. The cats have the faculty of vomit without effort to empty the ball of hair from the stomach.. However, there are vomits more severer that are symptoms of a wide scale of serious clinical problems.
Monitor Possible Shock
- Pale or whitish gums
- Agitated breathing
- Weak and accelerated pulse
- Coldness in the extremities
- General weakness
Is the vomit violent, of blackish or bloody color? Has the cat arcades continuously, but he does not get to vomit anything?
Is he a kitten? YES
Go to the veterinarian NOW
The vomit:
Is it accompanied of fever? Anxiety and constant comings and goings? Of lethargic, weakness? Of abdominal pains? Of intentions of urinating fruitless?
Of bloody diarrhea? Of pain? Of dehydration?. YES
go to the veterinarian NOW.
The cat gets to vomit and,
He does it less than three times.
He does not have diarrhea.
He does not have another problem. YES
Do give him neither food nor water for 12 hours.
- Take out all the food and water from him.
- If the cat is dehydrated or suffers a shock, treat this one and go immediately to the veterinarian
- If he is not dehydrated and does not suffer a shock, do not give water to him of water either during 12 hours, or food in a term from 12 to 24 hours.
- Offer him a cube of ice or a teaspoonful of carbonic water every some hours to moisten the mouth.
- After 12 or 24 hours, offer him one or three teaspoon of soft food (chicken, or prepared of meat for babies) .If he does not vomit it, give him a bit more every hour or every two hours.
- Restitution the normal diet the following day.
How to avoid problems:
- Brush to your cat periodically to free him of the excess of hair.
- Do not change the diet of sudden form.
- Do not allow to him to go though the garbage.
