Cat Tumors and Cutaneous Swelling

Cat Tumors and Cutaneous Swelling

Almost always, the owner sees a bundle or an abnormal swelling in the skin (fur) when he is brushing or caressing his cat. The cutaneous tumors are very common in the cats and have many causes. They change very much in size, tact and aspect. They are big and soft, and small and hard; sometimes, you touch only a bundle; in other cases, there can be a piece of skin covered of multiple small bundles. They can be rugged to the tact, segregate pus or be ulcered and bleeding. Sometimes, the skin is bald and scaly. There are tumors that can sting enormously or be very painful; and others do not disturb absolutely to the cat.

Sometimes the owner can confuse a tick with a tumor. These tiny parasites look like small points of dun color or gray pea and swell up themselves rapidly with the blood of his victims. It is necessary to remove when you have seen them. If there is some doubt on how to do it, it is necessary to consult the veterinarian. Also the knots of tangled hair can confuse with small tumors of the skin, especially in a cat of long hair that brush himself and lick the hair in excess. This is avoided brushing the cap carefully, to prevent him from getting entangled.

How to identify the problem
It is difficult that the owner evaluates the importance of a concrete tumor. It is not necessary to take any carelessly, for what the best thing is that the veterinarian examine as soon as possible. It is probable that the veterinarian asks us for a detailed history. There are tumors that can be diagnosed only by the record and the examination. For example, an abscess caused by a scrappy infected wound. It can appear a few days after our cat have bitten in a fight. We will notice a swelling of the skin the cat- normally in the face or in the tail –warm to the tact and that sees it is painful. The cat can be haggard and leave the food. If the abscess is in a leg, he will walk limping. Sometimes, the abscess bursts, giving up pus. If it does not do spontaneously, the veterinarian will have to cut it for drainage, prescribing antibiotics.

Other abscess and tumors can be more difficult to identify. There are abscess small with inflammatory crust and swellings, which can be a consequence of a reaction allergic to the parasites especially to fleas or of a hypersensitivity to the food. To locate the reason, the veterinarian can analyze samples of skin and of hair and lead to end you try allergy. Sometimes there is no an identifiable reason, but they can treat the symptoms with anti-inflammatory medicines. Among other diseases that can provoke leather swelling are the cysts and the tumors, the microbial infectious, viral and of fungi or a strange incrusted body, as a thorn or a loser. In many cases, to get into the problem, it is necessary to do a biopsy and other tests of laboratory.
