 | Cat TeethThe main enemy of teeth is tartar and even though dry food helps exercise their teeth and clean them; sometimes this is not enough and the tartar accumulates producing bad breath and cavities. For that:- It is advisable to clean their teeth once or twice a week with a toothbrush and toothpaste especially formulated for them. Do not use the same toothpaste as we do, not even kids toothpaste because this are toxic for them, simply pass a moisten brush.
- Accustom your cat to brushing their teeth since an early age because if not, it will be a problem. It is done by wrapping a piece of gauze around the finger and rubbing it against the teeth and massaging the gums.
- It is normal for kittens to have bad breath or suffer from gingivitis during the dentition period.
- Teeth must be firm, without any fissures or bad breath, gums must be pink.
- If your cat has bad breath, it can be a symptom of some stomach disease. Red gums can cause gingivitis, that can lead to ulcers in the mouth and loss of teeth. Be careful with any of these diseases like the influenza that manifests through mouth ulcers that get infected and fill with puss. This disease in many cases, is deadly.
- If your cat has excess of tartar, it should be taken to the veterinarian to have a professional clean its teeth, if you don't want it to end up with paps for the rest of their life. Also remember that they also use their teeth as a weapon for defense.
