Cat Requirements

Most cats occasionally eat herbs, for which is recommended to dispose for them with a flowerpot inside the house, there you can plant the seeds to let them grow or you can buy grown herbs in pet shops.

You also must be very careful with the plants you have inside your house, some are poisonous for cats, particularly, all those that are from the ivy family.

If your cat is usually alone all day, get used to following the same routine before going out of the house.

Always clean well the sand tray and put in it new sand. Put a bowl of fresh water and, if you want, leave also a small amount of dry food in its dish.

After giving him its breakfast in the mornings, dispose of the rests of food and clean well the dish.

Before leaving the house always inspect if all the doors and windows are well closed, don't forget closets and drawers. Of course there is always a risk for domestic cats not to do enough exercise to burn the daily ingested calories and to end up suffering from obesity.

For it, you have to pay more attention to their diet and, overall, to be more cautious with the snacks.

The standard method to know if your cat is over weighted, is to touch the area of the ribs. If you can't touch them very well, your cat is probably obese and it might be necessary to regulate their feeding.

Don't try yourself to establish a diet for you cat; consult always with a veterinary.

Alternatives
Although owners don't like their cats to wander around freely, there are some alternatives that are strictly homely.

One is to teach the animal how to walk with a leach, which will permit him to do more exercise and its an added interest to the daily routine.

Another is to build or to buy a closed "park" with a metal screen and to install it on the garden. This might be the most ideal solution for cats with pedigree, because you avoid the risks of going out to the streets and at the same time the quality of life of the animal gets better. Even the smallest "park" (2 x 1 meter) supposes a greater improvement in the way of life of a domestic cat.

The ideal is to have inside this "park" a tray of sand, or a reserved space of dirt that can be cleaned easily, a corner with herbs and another with cement, as a tree for climbing and sharpening its claws, shelves and toys, as a suspended rope from the roof, for them to be entertained.

The "park" must be protected from the wind and the midday sun. There must be a covered area for the cat to take shelter from the sun rays and the rain.

The most adequate would be for the cat to be able to go directly from the house to the "park" by ways of a door. Another option is to build an extension from the garden shed using a metal screen.
