Cat Pregnancy

If the cat is fertilized and becomes pregnant, we will have to wait approximately two months for the birth. The gestation can last from 56 up to 63 days, though it can reach 68 days. However, if it exceeds two months, warn the veterinarian immediately since long pregnancies can be a serious problem that has to be treated urgently.

It is possible that during the first days of the pregnancy, the cat has vomits, but they usually go away quickly. They can also become more cuddly and demand more attention, even if there are other animals at home, on the contrary, they can become more aggressive. This kind of behavior finishes once the pregnancy is over.

It is feasible that in their diets, vitamins or calcium supplements are incorporated. To know all this, it is necessary to consult the veterinarian.  

Recommendations:

• A wished and programmed gestation previously needs simple and important cares. It is convenient to have them internally and externally parasite free. Have a complete vaccination, which will give the kittens their first defenses to possible viral diseases.
• Once reached the copulation, if we suspect a pregnancy is taking place, we have to change the nourishment of the cat. There exists already on the market food specialized for this phase. Visit the veterinarian from the 28th of the copulation to have an ultrasound and see if everything is going well. Not only is the gestation confirmed, but you will see the size and the approximate number of future kittens.
• Do not move the cat while visiting relatives or friends, it is not advisable.
