Cat House PlansMy sisters in law Cindy and Jenny had a very handsome Tabby and my daughter just absolutely adored that cat. I had plans to get a cat house and keep the cat for my daughter when her aunties left the country. But the problem was that from the time the cat was a kitten it was mistreated and subjected to abuse on a regular basis. Of course the cat had learned how to defend himself and would do so with vigor. This of course posed problems for me because although my daughter Andrea was always very loving, affectionate and gentle with the cat it would inevitably scratch her. This behavior is quite unlike that of the cat who lives nearby our house. This cat is very open and affectionate with children and adults alike. Now I know that all children should be taught to be respectful of pets and treat them well but I also understand that children will be children and sometimes they will do things that are regrettable. However I also think that it is an important part of parent's responsibility towards their children that if they see that their kids are mistreating in anyway or being abusive towards their pets that the parents do what is best for the poor animal. This also includes being irresponsible in the feeding, cleaning and exercising of pets. If the parents don't do something about their children's misbehavior towards the pet there could arise complications afterwards. For one thing the kids don't learn to be respectful and responsible and will always be predisposed to mistreating animals. But also it is possible that as in the case of my sisters in law's cat, the pet could end up causing harm later in life as a result of the mistreatment it suffered as a kitten. I ended up not getting the cat or cat house but we are thinking of getting a dog instead. Could you imagine what the results could have been if those girls had brought up a Doberman or German Shepherd? |
