Cat Exercise
The domestic cats must have the opportunity to do exercise and you have to encourage them to play.
There are things as hard cardboard boxes (always that they haven't been used for transporting toxic substances), cardboard tubes, wrinkled balls of paper, etc. That work very well as playing elements, although at the pet shops you can also find other more sophisticated objects, as objects for climbing or mouse toys to reinforce their hunting instincts.
Sometimes a simple old slipper is more than enough, but don't forget that an scratching implement is essential for cats.
Exterior panoramic
Although we don't let our cats go outside, we have to give them the possibility to observe the exterior world. If we don't dispose of strategic points at home, like adequate window splays, a stable shelf situated near a window will do.
Choose a window where the mid day sun rays won't fall and where they can see enough interesting exterior activity.
Although the sight of a domestic cat observing, almost nostalgic, the outer world can be a sad spectacle, there are many things that calls its attention, like the movement of the birds, of the people and even of the traffic.
Escapes
It's of a great importance to be careful with door and windows. Have in mind that, when a domestic cat escapes, he probably won't subsist during much time, due that it lacks of the necessary knowledge for surviving and it is not accustom to the cold temperatures of winter. The car traffic also disturbs them very much.
Cats sometimes show a great cleverness, so don't forget to also close well the skylight windows. The same is applied to the guillotine windows.
One option is to buy or build a wood window frame, and to put in it a thin metal screen covered with plastic and place it conveniently on this kind of windows when they are partially open.
You may also need to put an additional double door at the entrance so this way people can go in and out without any danger for the cat to escape.
Dangers
If one or more cats are inside the house during very long periods, you have to close well every closest (overall those that might contain toxic products) and to shut the chimney.
Try that all the electric cables are tucked together not to tempt cats for playing with them.
Leave one or two big surfaces without any kind of decorative elements for them to use as resting areas and fix and shake well the cat's bed clothes.
