Cat Coupling
As soon as the cat is ready to mate, she crouches bending her front legs, leaving her hind straight up, puts her tail aside and starts to stamp her back legs repeatedly. Now the male cat can position himself upon her. For it, he strongly takes her abruptly from the nape and slides its penis in her vagina. The semen discharge is produced almost immediately, followed by a penetrating howl of the female cat. The cat, immediately tries to escape giving a leap, before the female cat can whack him. While she rolls over and licks her paws and genitals, he keeps away at safe distance waiting to se what happens. In a coupling things do not usually end this way.
The cat is pregnant: Three or four weeks later one can know if the cat is pregnant or not. Usually her nipples are barely noticeable, they are like bluish spots on the skin. They start to turn pink and rise and harden. From the fifth week on little by little the belly swells. Her sides fill up and her stomach turns round.
The date of the birth can be calculated by oneself -mating date plus 63 days more. There might be a week variation within the birth date, but nothing to worry about. During this period the pregnant cat is really attached to her "people". Free cats tend to stay closer to home. Everything goes on as normal.
What pregnant cats eat: A pregnant cat has more appetite. Give her 360 grams of food each day in little portions. She needs well nourished meals above all with albumen in the form of hard cheese (grated), curdling, egg yoke or cereal flakes. One can add a spoon in each meal. It is advisable a calcium preparation recommended by the veterinary.
