 | Cat Castration and HealthThe castration -the extirpation of both testicles- is the normal form of control of the reproduction for the male cats. The operation is done by general anesthesia and only it goes a few minutes. Generally, neither points nor clamps need and the inconveniences of the animal seems to be minimum.Though there are many cats that continue licking the wound for a few hours. A healthy cat must have returned to the normality the next day of the operation. The testicles, on having been born, are placed in the abdominal cavity of the males and, normally, they go down to the scrotum when the gat gets to the adolescence. However, sometimes one or both testicles remain inside the abdomen, an illness known as criptorquitis. This does that the castration is more complicated, but it is even more important for reasons of health; is more probable than a tumor develops in the testicles retained in the abdomen that in that they are placed normally in the scrotum. This one is a tare that can be inherited, therefore, the males who have it must not be used as a breeding. |
