Cat Adoption

The animal protection associations and shelters are other places in which you can find kittens or adult cats.

In the case of adult cats, most of them have lived before in family homes, and maybe some of them have suffered traumatic experiences.

Although none of the organizations with reputation offers cats that will not be able to adapt, some more difficult animals.

Need of more attentions, and shouldn't be taken to homes in which there are other animals or small children.

Most of the associations usually give sterilized animals for adoption and, if they weren't, they usually make you sign a document by which you have to take him back for its interruption at a certain date.

On the other hand, they are also usually provided with a microchip, wormed and vaccinated. They also have a final veterinary review before taking him.

Street markets are not an ideal place to buy a pet, and many veterinarians advice to buy them at pet shops, where the feline illnesses are usually endemic.

You have to pay much attention when buying through newspaper adds or notices on the street; one way to know the antecedents of a cat, for example, is to inspect its original home and to see how the rest of the litter lives.

What is Important
It is recommended not to take children when picking a cat, or at least not to let yourself be influenced by them, because they tend to reject animals with sad expressions, that are usually who need more of a home. The best is that the person that wants to acquire a cat, to go with someone who knows about it. The thing is to acquire a healthy cat and for it, avoid watery eyes, those who drip through the nose or those who have opaque hair.

In the case of kittens, be sure that they have more than ten weeks since born or even better 12 weeks before taking them apart from their mother.

They are all beautiful when little, but the best is to choose the most active and friendly of the litter, the one who comes to investigate and, after his first halt, responds better to caresses and lets himself be hold on arms.

The decision to acquire a cat must never done blind folded, all in the family must have a clear idea about the type of cat they want, because it doesn't have much sense, as it usually happens, to let yourself be taken by aesthetic appearances than by practical questions.
