Cat House Designs
While out for a walk with my daughter the other day she asked me, "Do cats like to be on the ground?" The reason this question came about is because nearby our house there is a cat that is very often on the ground enjoying the sun. My daughter has had one cat of her own and has always had a very special place in her heart for cats, so she is not unfamiliar with their particular habits. I explained to her that normally cats (like the one she had) usually prefer to be up off of the ground as it is much safer. While on the ground there is always the risk of being attacked by dogs or bothered by people. When cats are high up off of the ground they generally feel more secure and hence relaxed and open to affection. I also told her that when you make a cat house desig
n it is important to keep this factor in mind. Some of the best cathouses are those that offer the cat a living space on legs. When your cat has a place to live that is high (or at least decently) up off of the ground they often prefer it. Putting your cat house on the ground means that you need to give your cat some additional protection. The additional protection could be a cat enclosure or it could be a cat tree that is part of the cat house design. Placing a cat tree next to your cat house is a good idea especially if you combine it with a few other cat necessities. We all know that cats not only love scratching but that it is essential that they be able to do so and that climbing comes in a close second. So when you design your cat house you can put a cat tree combined with scratching post next to your feline's house and it can serve not only as a scratching post but also a place to climb for fun or when escaping from a potentially dangerous situation.
