Burma Cat Breed

Researchers believe Burma cats are originally from Burma where priests kept them as pets therefore considered sacred. Circa 1919 a pair of Burma cats were smuggled into France. Due to the difficult conditions of the trip only Sita -the female cat- survived. Nevertheless, she got pregnant and thus began the breeding of the Burma cat in the Western hemisphere.

French welcomed this cat family only in 1925, but as only 2 cats survived the Second World War it was necessary to breed them with Siamese and Persian cats to preserve the valuable heritably features of the breed.

Burma cats have a convex head, short nose, wide cheeks, ears bent forward and intense, oblique blue eyes. Its body is well-built, medium sized, strong short legs, untainted white paws, and hairy tails. Prime colors of the Burma cat family are those creamy ones with grayish or brownish spots.
