Building Cat Enclosure
I had pretty much made up my mind that I was going to build a cat enclosure. My house was just suffering too much damage at the "claws" of my cat. She wasn't a bad cat overall but her destructive power was awesome. Then a friend of mine mentioned to me that there were a couple of alternatives that I hadn't yet tried. I had gotten my cat a scratching post and she would use it but not all the time. I had even tried putting aluminum foil on the legs of my household furniture but that also had only a limited affect. So my friend told me about these things call "Softpaws." What you do is glue these fake nail onto your cats claws and s
o make them unable to scratch. They eventually fall off after a few weeks and so it is necessary to reapply them every so often but that is probably their biggest advantage compared to one of the other alternatives which is to completely declaw your cat. If you do put the softpaws on your cat it is important to understand that there are some precautionary measures that you as a responsible pet owner have to take. When your cat is using the softpaws it effectively has no ability to use its claws in the way that it needs to in order to climb or fight. The obvious result of this is that if your cat was to go outside and become challenged by another cat or worse yet a dog it would have no way to defend itself or to climb and escape. So if you were to use softpaws you most definitely wouldn't' t want your cat outside on its own. I still am not sure whether a cat enclosure is the best option or if I should go with the cat softpaws.
